Lady Colonels Use First Half Shutout to Roll Past Lady Falcons

It’s tough enough to win a game when you are held scoreless for a q uarter. It’s virtually impossible to do when the scoreless streak lasts for a half. The Christian County Lady Colonels held the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons without a point for the opening half of the game on their way to a 47-16 win on post Monday night.

Behind big starts from Eniya McGee and Mikayah Killebrew, the Lady Colonels scored the first 21 points of the game to take a 21-0 lead after the opening quarter.

With six different players getting into the scoring column in the 2nd quarter, the Lady Colonels continued their game opening run in the second. Christian County scored 15 more in the quarter to take a 36-0 lead into the half.

The Lady Falcons came out in the third quarter and broke the ice with 6:25 to go in the quarter on a basket by Danielle Houston. The Lady Falcons would go on to outscore Christian County in the third 6-5 to cut the lead to 41-6 headed into the final quarter.

To their credit, the Lady Falcons kept on pushing to try and stay even in the second half with the Lady Colonels. Christian County outscored Fort Campbell by two over the final 8 minutes to get to the final 31 point margin.

Christian County was paced by Eniya McGee with 7 points, all of them coming in the first quarter. Destinee Catlett-Watkins, Mikayah Killebrew, and Evanna McGregor, all finished with six points. Leila Lee and Amari Brown added five points each.

Olivia Conner led Fort Campbell with 4 points. Asia Cabila, Danielle Houston, and Teerapunyyachai Jittakam, finished with two points each.
