Majah Hollowell scored 14 of her team-high 18 points after halftime as Caldwell County’s girls turned back Crittenden County 59-50 in overtime Tuesday night in a “throwback” game at Butler Gym in downtown Princeton.
Bella McConnell added 17 points and Jacey Jaggers had 12 points as the Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Rockets for the third time this season.
Crittenden (15-7) led 22-14 at halftime and 34-31 through three quarters before running into foul problems in the fourth period and overtime.
Freshman Taylor Guess poured in 25 points for the Lady Rockets before fouling out in overtime. Nahla Woodward had 11 points but reached her foul limit in the fourth quarter.
Caldwell (13-11) led by two points late in regulation before Guess extended the game with a tough runner in the lane that saw her slice through a pair of Caldwell defenders and bank home a shot just ahead of the horn.
That knotted the game at 45-45.
But Caldwell dictated play in the extra session, especially after Guess was whistled for her fifth foul.
The Lady Tigers went on to outscore Crittenden 14-5 in the extra 4 minutes.
Caldwell’s girls will play again on Friday when they host Trigg County at the CAB gym in the second game of a boys and girls doubleheader.
