Todd County Central has named Matt Harper as their next girls’ soccer coach. Harper most recently coached the girls’ program at Trigg County.
Harper was 22-25-3 in just over two seasons as head coach. He resigned ten games into the 2019 season saying he “did what he felt was best for the program at the time.”
The Lady Wildcats won the district title in 2017 and advanced to the region semifinals.
“We are excited to add Matt to our staff. He is experienced, qualified, and the perfect person to keep our girls’ program moving in the right direction,” Todd County Central High Athletic Director Mike Smith said. “He brings knowledge, passion, and a positive attitude, and we are expecting him to have a positive impact on our student-athletes on and off the field.”
Harper will replace Katie Covington who was 32-42-2 in four seasons as Lady Rebels’ coach. Todd County Central won the district title in 2017 with a 10-6-2 record.
The Lady Rebels were 10-11 in 2019 and advanced to the championship game of the All-A Classic region tournament where they lost to Glasgow 1-0. Todd lost to Franklin-Simpson 4-0 in the first round of the district tournament.
