Trigg County’s Colin Stevens won all three of his Friday matches at the KHSAA State Wrestling Tournament as the Wildcat senior looks to win his first state title.
Stevens won his opening two matches in the 170-pound class. He beat Fern Creek’s Abdul Adahamov by fall (2:42) in the first round and took down Johnson Central’s Nick Stapleton by fall in the second round.
In the third round, Stevens beat Boyle County’s Jacob Robbins 7-4. Stevens will face off against North Oldham’s Bryce Moberly in Saturday’s semifinal. Moberly’s two losses this season have come against Stevens.
Meanwhile, Andrew Hendricks dropped his state tournament debut to Campbell County’s Casey Rauch by fall (1:34) in the opener. He advanced in the consolation round with two points in the final seconds to edge Waggener’s Jordan Haskins 3-2. He fought hard against No. 11 Reggie Whyte Jr. of Central in his final match before falling 9-7.
