Being on a softball scholarship on the SEC is a great accomplishment in its own right. Seeing significant action early in your freshman season takes that accomplishment to a whole new level.

Anyone who saw Emmy Blane play high school softball for the Christian County Lady Colonels had no doubt the young lady would be successful at the next level, and she is proving that to be the case right off the bat in her freshman season for the University of Kentucky.

As of Monday, Blane had played in 8 of UK’s first 9 games, missing only the February 9 win over #7 Minnesota. To date, she has seen only four at bats in the first nine games for UK, coming up with one RBI.

She is seeing much more action in the field for Kentucky early in the season. In her eight games of action, Blane has 6 put outs, 7 assists, and just one error, for a fielding percentage of .929.

UK (7-2) returns to action Wednesday evening on the road at Middle Tennessee.
