Hoptown’s Jay Bland Headed to Centre College

Another member of the Hopkinsville Tiger football team will be continuing his playing career on the collegiate level. Senior quarterback Jay Bland tweeted out Thursday afternoon that he would be heading off to Danville to play football for Centre College.

During his senior season at Hoptown, was 160 of 329 passing, for 2408 yards and 28 touchdowns, with only nine interceptions. Bland also carried the ball 87 times for 239 yards and seven scores.

His junior year, Bland only saw action in five games due to injury. He was 31 of 80, for 528 yards and three touchdowns. He ran the ball 30 times for 109 yards and two touchdowns.

Bland had a big year his sophomore year, going 113 of 257 through the air, for 2148 yards, and 22 touchdowns.

Centre is an NCAA Division III school, playing in the Southern Athletic Association. The Colonels finished the 2019 season with a record of 5-5.
