
The 1964-65 Trigg County Wildcat basketball team was recognized Thursday.
On the 55th anniversary of their season, the 1964-65 Trigg County basketball team was recognized Thursday night at Wildcat Gym.
The team finished 23-6 and tied a school record for wins in a season. Trigg posted a 16-2 record at Wildcat Gym with their two losses coming to Caldwell County (68-63) and Central City (80-56).
The Wildcats picked up wins over Murray, Christian County, Hopkinsville, Madisonville, and North Marshall during the season. They beat Dawson Springs and Hopkinsville Attucks to win the 7th District championship. After a 108-47 win over Fort Campbell in the opener of the region tournament, Trigg lost to a Hopkinsville Attucks team in the semifinals that it had beaten three times during the season.
Leading scorers on the team were Buddy Sivills (19.4), Jackie Humphries (11.3), Kenny Rogers (10.4), Billie Walker (9.1), and John Ladd (8.8).
Team members in attendance were Buddy Sivills, David Banister, Kenny Rogers, John Ladd, Waymon Cunningham, Jackie Humphries, Joe Oakley, Jimmy Towler, George Radford, Marty Bozarth, and Billie Walker.
Other team members were Coach Duke Burnett, Mickey Burroughs, Stewart Martin, Ray Dillard, and Clem Barnes.
