The KHSAA girls’ state swim meet got underway with the preliminary rounds Friday morning, with a number of Hopkinsville swimmers taking to the water.
Ella Falco turned in a 1:57.93 in the 200 freestyle, 0.54 slower than her time at last week’s regional meet, but her 12th place finish was still good enough to qualify her for Friday evening’s consolation final. She also finished 17th in the 100 freestyle with a 55.26, 0.88 behind her region time.
In the relays, the team of Elizabeth Langhi, Riley Robinson, Lauren Montgomery and Livie Jorgensen finished 38th with a 2:04.67, while the group of Falco, Ellie Colburn, Elizabeth and Lauren Langhi swam 24th in the 200 freestyle relay, with a time of 1:45.39. The same group finished 18th in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:49.49, 1.92 slower than their entry time.
