
The Dawson Springs boys’ basketball team erupted for 31 first-quarter points and held off visiting Todd County Central for a 78-70 victory Friday night. The matchup ended the regular season for both teams, with the Rebels set to face Franklin-Simpson in next week’s 13th District tourney and the Panthers awating Madisonville-North Hopkins in the 7th District opener.
Skyler Clark and Dylan Dawson each put up 10 points in the first quarter, to go with 8 from Landon Pace, and the Panthers led 31-17 after one.
Dominique Morrow got going for the Rebels in the second with 9 points, and they outscored Dawson Springs 18-16 to trim the margin to 12 at the halftime break.
Todd County cut the lead in half in the third quarter behind 8 points from Austin Rager and 6 from Deonte Toliver, and were within 6 points going to the fourth quarter.
However, Dawson capped his 28-point performance with 10 more over the final eight minutes, and the Panthers held on for an 8-point victory.
