Two athletes at Madisonville-North Hopkins have decided where they will continue their collegiate careers in not one, but two sports. In a tweet Tuesday evening, twin sisters Courtney Peyton and Lindsey Peyton announced they would be headed to Brescia University, in Owensboro, to play both basketball and softball.
In basketball this season, Courtney Peyton is the leading scorer for the Lady Maroons basketball team, at 18.7 points a game. Lindsey is averaging just under double figures at 9.7 points per contest. Lindsey is the team’s leading rebounder at 6.7 boards a game, while Courtney averages 4.4.
Last season, in softball, Courtney hit .400 with 5 home runs and 18 RBIs. Lindsey hit .374 with 1 home run and 23 RBIs. Madisonville reached the final 8 of the state softball tournament, before falling to Clay County 4-2.
Bresica is an NAIA school playing in the Riverstates Conference.
