The girls have not had the chance yet to finish their Sweet 16, but its never too early, to start thinking about a new season in 2020-2021. While it is a new season, it looks like the same ole suspects as we get into our “Girls’ Way Too Early YSE Super 7.” Henderson County looks like a strong contender to make it three in a row, but we are several months away from that happening, so here we go.
1- Henderson County – Emilee Hope will be gone, as will Jocelyn Spaulding. However, Jeff Haile will not find his cupboard anywhere near bare in 2020-2021. Sadie Wurth and Graci Risley return to anchor a potent offense that figures to contend for their third straight 2nd Region championship.
2 – Webster County – Much the same as Henderson County. The Lady Trojans lose their best player in Marissa Austin, but return a very talented nucleus that should push Henderson County to the limit in 2020-2021. Raigan Price and Adeline McDyer will help lead the way for a dangerous Webster County team.
3 – Madisonville – Losing the Peyton twins will be a challenge. But, if you are going to be challenged, better to be challanged returning Camryn LaGrange, Amari Lovan, Kara Franklin, Katelyn Zieba, and company. While maybe not 29-2 good next season, don’t write off the Lady Maroons just yet coming into next season.
4 – Hopkinsville – If the Lady Tigers ever develop their shooting eye, watch out. This team can cause defensive havoc all over the court. Not to mention, Coach Anthony Babb is set to return Donisha Flowers, Jakayla Epps, Lakayla Samuel, and Shaterrea Bellamy. A repeat in the 8th District appears very possible for this group.
5 – Crittenden County – The Lady Rockets return talented freshmen Taylor Guess and Natalie Boone, along with upperclassmen Chandler Moss and Nahla Woodward. Crittenden County could be positioned as the team to beat in the 5th District.
6 – Christian County – Getting Trinity McGee back at close to 100 percent by the time the season starts would be huge for the Lady Colonels. Coach Kiki Radford will return some really talented players to go around her. This team could be one of those dark horse teams as the season gets rolling next year.
7 – Trigg County – The Lady Wildcats come off a record breaking season, which included their first regional tournament win in 30 years. Losing Rylee Bush and Emily Noffsinger will be tough for the Lady Wildcats to overcome.
