The Ohio Valley League has released a statement in reference to the summer wooden bat league season saying they hope to play.

“Our League is hopefully optimistic that the sacrifices already made and those being made now will create a ‘flattening of the curve’ with this virus before our season begins 10 weeks from now,” OVL President John Bruce said.  “Just like every baseball player and fan in America, we will monitor the advisories and recommended precautions from national, state, and local health officials. While conditions are changing daily, we continue to prepare for our season.”

College baseball seasons in the NCAA, NAIA, and junior college level were cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The OVL’s primary concern remains the health and safety of all our players, coaches, fans, families, and staff so they can enjoy our great game. We have a group of very talented players headed our way in 2 1/2 months,” Bruce said.

The 10th season of the Ohio Valley Baseball League is scheduled to begin the last Friday in May with the Hoptown Hoppers looking to defend their league title.
