With the decade coming to an end on the high school hardwood this year, here is a look at the Heritage Christian Academy boys’ basketball All-Decade Team comprised of players that played for the Warriors from 2010-2020.
FIRST FIVE
Gavin Fowler (2015-2019) – Fowler is one of the most decorated boys’ basketball players in HCA history. He was an All-State selection in 2019 as well as the Region I MVP. He made the KCAA All-State Tournament Team three times (2017-19) and twice played in the KCAA All-Star Game. He scored in double figures in both games. He is a member of the 1,000-point club and signed to play college basketball at Welch College.
Alex Walker (2010-2013) – Known more as a baseball standout for the Warriors, Walker earned All-Region honors in 2011, All-State honors in 2012, and was named to the 2013 All-State Tournament Team. Walker played in the KCAA All-Star Game three times, scoring 15 points in the 2011 game. Walker played baseball for Mid-Continent College and was also a member of the Hoptown Hoppers for a season.
Jacob Yates (2011-15) – Yates was the 2014 Region Tournament MVP and twice was named to the KCAA All-State Tournament Team. He scored 11 points in the 2014 KCAA All-Star Game.
Nathan Workman (2010-13) – Workman scored 19 points in HCA’s 2013 KCAA State Tournament semifinal upset of favorite Community Christian and was named the MVP of the state tournament after the Warriors won the state championship. He also was tabbed the 2011 Region MVP and played in the 2013 KCAA All-Star Game.
Peter Shepard (2010-11) – Shepard led Heritage Christian Academy in scoring in 2010-11 and was named the school’s second KCAA Mr. Basketball. He earned All-State and All-State Tournament honors that season in leading the Warriors to the KCAA state title game.
SECOND FIVE
Matthew Malabanan (2014-17) – Malabanan led the Warriors in scoring in 2016-17 in earning KCAA All-State honors. He was also named All-Region in 2015 and 2017.
Rajah Mills (2016-19) – Mills was named to the 2018-19 All-Region team in leading HCA to the region title. He helped lead the Warriors to the 2019 KCAA state title game where he was named to the All-State Tournament Team.
Luke Settle (2011-14) – Settle was the 2014 Region MVP for the Warriors and scored 17 points in their 2014 KCAA State Tournament semifinal loss.
Alex Little (2010-12) – Little was named to the 2011-12 All-Region and All-State Tournament Teams for the Warriors. He scored eight points while representing HCA in the 2011 KCAA All-Star Game.
Caleb Brown (2010-11) – Brown was known for his prowess on the hardwood and the baseball diamond. He earned All-Region honors in 2010 and 2011, adding the 2011 Region MVP trophy to his shelf. Later in 2011, Brown was named the KCAA Mr. Baseball.
