Nine of the 10 boys’ teams have now been announced for the 2020 West Kentucky Hoops Classic.
The latest is Murray High School from the 1st Region.
The Murray High Tigers are the third team from the Bluegrass State that will play in the Hoops Classic Dec. 28-29 at the CAB gym in Princeton. Murray joins host Caldwell County and Fern Creek from Louisville as Kentucky teams in the event.
Murray went 23-7 this past season but was upset by Calloway County in the first round of the 4th District tournament.
Murray did win the 1st Region in the All A Classic and made it all the way to the semifinals of the All A state tournament in Richmond before falling to Frankfort in overtime.
Besides Caldwell County, Murray and Fern Creek, the other teams set to play in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic are the Lee Generals from Montgomery, Ala.; the Pontotoc Warriors from Mississippi; the Bartlett Panthers from near Memphis, Tenn.; the Independence Patriots of Charlotte, N.C.; the Huffman Vikings from Birmingham, Ala.; and the Ridge View Blazers of Columbia, S.C.
The Hoops Classic will also feature four girls’ teams, which were all announced earlier — host Caldwell County, Lyon County, Madisonville-North Hopkins and Mayfield.
The annual event, which sees 14 games over two days, is a fundraiser for the Caldwell County High School athletic department.
