Four 1,000-point scorers and another that is knocking on the door make up the first five players on the Dawson Springs All-Decade Basketball Team, as determined by Your Sports Edge.
These are the top 10 Panther players from the last 10 years (2010-11 season through this past season).
Here is the first team:
Dylan Simpson — A two-time All-2nd Region and three-time All-7th District performer, Simpson scored almost 1,700 points in a Panther uniform. Simpson led Dawson Springs with 16.5 points a game as a senior in 2017 and scored a team-best 20.5 points as a junior. He also topped the squad as a sophomore with 10.3 points. Simpson is now a junior at Midway University, where he has played basketball and is a member of the school’s cross-country and track and field teams.
Skyler Clark — Clark has led the Panthers in scoring each of the past two seasons and has 1,078 career points. He was named to the All-2nd Region Team and All-7th District Team in both 2019 and 2020. Clark averaged 17.1 points a game as a senior this past season while netting 18.3 as a junior.
Landon Pace — Pace is well on … well … pace to top 1,000 career points. He will carry 954 points into his senior season in 2020-21. Pace has been named to the All-7th District Team each of the past two seasons. He averaged 13.7 points a game this past year after scoring 13.0 points as a sophomore.
Justin Putman — Putman was twice selected to the All-7th District Team — in 2016 and again in 2018. Putman averaged 10.3 points and 7.9 rebounds as a senior. He averaged 9.1 points a game as a junior and 9.9 as a sophomore. Putman scored over 1,000 points as a Panther.
Braxton Cotton — Cotton averaged 12.9 points a game and a team-high 9.0 rebounds as a contest this past season as a senior. For his career, Cotton scored 1,215 points and grabbed 755 rebounds — and he elected not to play his junior season or those numbers would be even bigger. Cotton was named to the All-7th District Team as a sophomore in 2018 when he led the Panthers with 14.8 points and 8.9 rebounds a game.
Here is the second team:
Tre Fambrough — Fambrough was the leading scorer for the Panthers as a senior in the 2011-12 season. He was selected to the All-7th District Team following that season.
Kevin Brooks — Brooks was named to the All-7th District Team as a senior in 2018. Brooks totaled 822 points as a Panther. He averaged 8.2 points a game his senior season.
Colton Chapple — Chapple was Dawson Springs’ only All-7th District selection following his senior season of 2012-13.
Austin Clark — Clark was second on the team in scoring as a senior with 11.4 points a game in 2017-18. He scored over 700 points at Dawson Springs. Clark was named to the All-7th District Team in 2018.
Brett Cobb — Cobb was named to the All-7th District Team after leading the Panthers in scoring as a senior in the 2010-11 season.
