With the spring sports season in the books prematurely, YourSportsEdge.com has reached out to coaches, and they have provided us with information and comments on their seniors.  We will be recognizing the Class of 2020 for the remainder of what would have been the spring sports season.

Jude Hunter is a catcher and first baseman for the Trigg County Wildcat baseball team.

“Jude is actually the player that I have known the longest out of this senior class. I met Jude when he was an 8th grader at a dove hunt my first year in Trigg County,” Trigg County Coach Tyler Magan said.  “Jude has caught for me for two years as a JV player and last year in his junior year in varsity. Coming off of an injury in football, he had just been cleared the week of the pandemic to play in a scrimmage that was scheduled for that week. With his injuries, we were unsure of what positions he would be able to play and how much given the nature of his ACL tear. He had been working on catching, playing 1st base, and DH’ing.”

“Jude has had a rough senior year to say the least, probably the roughest one I have ever heard about, at least from an athletics standpoint. Tearing his ACL in his senior season, not being able to play one down of regular season football, rehabbing and working hard to get back in shape for baseball, doing what you can along the way all while being limited is frustrating, then finally getting released, only to have your other season “suspended.” Wow. Through this, it would be easy to give up and stay mad at life, but Jude has used this to mature and grow in a way that has really impressed me.”

“He has matured and taken on leadership roles and worked his butt off to battle through his injury. Even though this is not the senior season that he (or anyone else would have) wanted, he is using it to help make himself into a more disciplined and responsible young man and learning life lessons that will serve him well beyond baseball and high school,” Magan said.
