With the spring sports season in the books prematurely, YourSportsEdge.com has reached out to coaches, and they have provided us with information and comments on their seniors. We will be recognizing the Class of 2020 for the remainder of what would have been the spring sports season.
Andrew Syester is a member of the Trigg County Wildcat baseball team.
Andrew came to us from Fort Campbell last year, playing here his junior year. Having always been an infielder and pitcher, making the transition to outfielder was a bit of a challenge, both physically and mentally. Andrew did very well, starting the majority of the year in right field,” said Trigg County Coach Tyler Magan. “He was set to become our center fielder due to his year of varsity experience, as well as bat in the 4 or 5 hole to help assist in driving in runs. Andrew made great strides as a pitcher in the off season and was also going to be one of our top guys in the rotation. Even though Andrew was a big contributor as a junior, I believe he was set to break out his senior year and have a great season.”
“I talk about this group a lot and how much they mean with me and how I’ve coached them all through high school, and even though I didn’t coach Andrew his first two years, I don’t see him as any different than the rest of the boys. He’s still one of ‘my guys.’ Although I wish I could have worked with him the first few years and allowed him to play and develop with these other seniors, I think he has done a great job transitioning from ‘new guy’ to one of our senior leaders. I am grateful he was able to be a part of this senior class of 2020 here at Trigg,” Magan said.
