Like the Caldwell County Tiger baseball team, which is just two wins away from 800 all-time victories, the Lady Tiger softball team is also closing in on a milestone.
Caldwell’s girls will go into the 2021 campaign needing 10 wins to reach 400 victories in fast-pitch softball.
In 25 seasons of fast-pitch, the Lady Tigers have 390 wins and 339 losses.
The Lady Tiger softball team has three regional championships to its credit, winning titles in 1998, 2000 and 2002.
You can read about those by clicking on the YSE Caldwell County page.
Caldwell’s girls were state runners-up to Owensboro Catholic in 1998.
The Lady Tigers have been regional runners-up three times — 1996, 1999 and 2018.
The Caldwell softball program won eight-straight fast-pitch district titles from 1995-2002 but has not won a district championship since that time, much of which has been spent in a 7th District that has included strong programs at Madisonville-North Hopkins and Hopkins County Central.
Caldwell’s girls were 17-13 last year and went 18-12 in 2018 while reaching the 2nd Region championship game that season before losing to Christian County 5-3 in nine innings.
