We told you last week that the Caldwell baseball, softball and volleyball programs are all nearing milestone win marks.
For those interested about the Tiger football team’s all-time record, Caldwell is not nearing a landmark victory, but the program’s mark is now 426-288-11.
Caldwell football has averaged 6.5 wins a season over the past 66 seasons, going back to consolidation in 1954.
However, while the Caldwell County High School football team has 426 wins all-time, if you track Tiger football history back to Princeton Butler High School (1924-53) and then Princeton High School going back to 1911, there are 569 wins on record.
So if you’re just talking about Tiger football over the last 109 years, the all-time mark shows 569 wins, 462 losses and 35 ties.
The Caldwell County Tigers own two Class 2A state championships, claiming titles in 1963 and 1998. Caldwell was state runner-up in 2012.
There were no high school playoffs in Kentucky prior to 1959. However, Princeton High School claimed a mythical state championship in 1915. That team went 6-0, outscoring opponents 162-25.
It was said that no opposing player penetrated Princeton’s defensive line for more than five yards all season.
Legend has it that after winning its first six games, Princeton made every endeavor to schedule postseason games against some of the best teams from around the state. However, getting no takers, Princeton declared itself state champion.
The 1915 Tigers would own the only perfect season by a high school football team from Princeton until Caldwell’s 1963 state champs went 13-0.

The Caldwell baseball team needs just two wins to reach 800.
The Lady Tiger softball team is 10 wins away from 400 victories all-time.
