Vendella Leavell lost her battle with cancer on December 5, 2018. That didn’t stop her son JeVon from nominating her for Sports Mom of the Month for all of the things she did for him as he became a standout on the football field and track for Hopkinsville High. Vendella is the YSE Sports Mom of the Month for April.
“When my Mama was living, she would always make sure me and my teammates held our heads high. She would cheer on for both teams and encourage them both even though she was a die hard Hoptown Tiger. Also, you can ask people whenever they would see her, she was lighting up their day,” JeVon said in nominating his mother.
Vendella’s hand in raising JeVon was apparent earlier this year when he signed to continue his athletic career at Lindsey Wilson College.
