With the spring sports season in the books prematurely, YourSportsEdge.com has reached out to coaches, and they have provided us with information and comments on their seniors. We will be recognizing the Class of 2020 for the remainder of what would have been the spring sports season.
Colton Sumner is a member of the Trigg County High School baseball team.
“Colton is a baseball-only guy who has mainly pitched, but also played some third base for me the last few years,” said Trigg County Coach Tyler Magan. “Pitching is something we have worked primarily with Colton, as it is what he really loves to do and spends his time dedicating himself to the cause. Being the starting pitcher or coming off the bench, he has a love to be on the mound whenever he can. Going into the season, Colton was going to be one of our primarily relievers, as well as potentially start several games, utilizing him in both roles.”
“Colton has had several injuries and setbacks throughout his time as a player. He has really worked to try to overcome those challenges and issues through working out with the team but also working in his own time. One thing about Colton that you can’t teach is his desire to be a good teammate. You can hear him cheering on his teammates or see him mentoring a younger player,” Magan said.
“Often times in drills, you will see Colton dedicating a majority of his time to helping those in his group with their mechanics of their swing or their pitching mechanics to help them improve. Selflessness is a great quality to have that will serve him well in the future.”
