A former golfer at Madisonville-North Hopkins has been recognized for her play during a COVID-19 shortened college golf season. The Ohio Valley conference announced that Shelby Darnell has been named to the 2019-2020 All-Ohio Valley Conference Golf Team.
Darnell was one of three golfers from Austin Peay to be named to the All-OVC Team.
The OVC was able to get 71-percent of its schedule in before shutting the season down due to the pandemic.
During her high school career at Madisonville, Darnell was a two-time All-State performer, scoring victories on the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour, Mussellman-Dunne Tour, and multiple prep events, in addition to the West Kentucky College Showcase. She made history as the first female invited to play the Eli Barron Invitational, and took first place in her division.
