Webster County’s Clay Puckett continued his strong start to the summer junior golf tour with a seventh place finish at the Bluegrass Golf Tour stop Tuesday at the Bowling Green Country Club.
Puckett shot a 6-over 78 to finish in a seventh place tie. He shot a 2-over 38 on the front nine that included a pair of birdies. He shot a combined 2-under on the par 3s and par 5s but struggled at 8-over on the par-4 holes.
The upcoming senior at Webster County is looking to build on his fifth place finish at region last year. Puckett opened with a second place finish in the two-round combo event staged by the Bluegrass Tour at Drake Creek Golf Club over the weekend.
Owen Stamper, who graduates this month from Allen County-Scottsville and is headed to Middle Tennessee State, birdied the final four holes to finish at 4-under and win the division by four shots.
