Caldwell County High School graduate Belle Englebright has been named to the All-State Tennis Team by the Kentucky High School Tennis Coaches Association.
The girls and boys all-state teams were announced on Tuesday.
Englebright is a four-time regional champion. As an eighth grader, Englebright teamed with Chasie Phelps to win the regional doubles title.
Englebright then won three-straight region singles titles from 2017-19. She was favored to win the region again this spring, but was defeated in her quest for another championship by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Caldwell got in just one match in 2020, with Englebright picking up a singles win over Paducah St. Mary, before the coronavirus halted the sports world.
Englebright is believed to be the first Caldwell girl to be named all-state in tennis and just the second Caldwell player ever selected. Ben Knight was named to the boys all-state tennis team in 2018.
Louisville Trinity senior Michael Chou and McCracken County senior Sophia Shiben were recognized as the state’s top tennis players, being named Mr. Tennis and Miss Tennis, respectively.
