Jiles Wyatt liked how he played Tuesday at the Bluegrass Golf Tour stop at the Benton Country Club. Up until the final hole. The University Heights Academy senior held the lead for 17 holes, but a bogey on No. 18 coupled with a birdie from Paducah’s Palmer Sims gave them identical scores of five-over 77s.
Sims shot 2-over on the back nine, while Wyatt was 4-over which gave Sims the win on the scoreboard playoff.
Wyatt started strong with eight pars and a bogey on the front nine for a 1-over 37. Bogeys on three of the final four holes allowed Sims, a sophomore at St. Mary, the chance to tie with birdies on two of his final three holes.
The top five finish for Wyatt was his fifth in five Bluegrass Tour events this summer.
