Union County is now beginning the search for a new basketball coach. Shane Smith announced his resignation Wednesday night on social media.
In a Tweet, Smith cited a desire to spend more time with his family as a reason for his stepping aside from the Braves basketball program.
In four seasons at the helm at Union County, Smith’s teams were 53-69. He took two teams to the 2nd Region tournament, losing in the opening round in 2019 to Caldwell County, and advancing to the semifinals in 2018, where his Braves fell to ultimate region champion University Heights.
