After the announcement Thursday that former boys basketball coach Kerry Stovall would be taking over as district wide athletic director for the Christian County Schools, the Christian County boys basketball team found itself in need of a new head basketball coach. Friday morning, Christian County announced that they would stay within the program to find someone to lead the program for the time being.
Christian County High School Principal Matt Boehman announced Friday morning that Colonel assistant coach Caleb Nelson has been selected to serve as the interim Head Boys Basketball Head Coach. Boehman says Nelson, who has been an assistant basketball coach at CCHS for the previous two seasons, will lead the Colonels through the transitional period as Stovall moves to his new position, after three seasons in his second tenure as head boys basketball coach.
Nelson served as acting coach for a few games during the 2019-2020 season when Stovall was unable to coach due to illness.
Christian County schools approved a plan last week for student-athletes to return to practice, but it was limited to fall sports only.
