It is surely not the way he planned on beginning his tenure as the new head football coach. With the guidelines recently announced by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association, conditioning workouts can get underway this week at schools across the state and that means first year Fort Campbell football coach Jeff Rodgers can finally get his team moving towards the possible start of the 2020 football season.
Under the guidelines put out by the KHSAA, athletes in “high contact” sports can begin things like running and weightlifting effective this week.
In a statement to YourSportsEdge.Com, Coach Rodgers said the Falcons are planning to start conditioning this week. He added that they are making sure all safety procedures are in place as the safety of players and coaches are their main priority.
Rodgers took over the Falcon program earlier this year after Josh Robins stepped down after three years on the job.
The Falcons are tentatively scheduled to start the season August 21 at Crittenden County.
