When the Kentucky Derby was moved to the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, which was the opening weekend of play for many football teams across the country, including the Kentucky Wildcats, many wondered if UK would leave their home opener against Eastern Michigan on Saturday. Tuesday, the University of Kentucky answered that question with a big “no.”
UK Athletics has announced that the game with Eastern Michigan will be moved up a couple of days, to Thursday, September 3rd. The move essentially guarantees that the game will be played at night, however, no official time has been set for the kickoff of the game.
Western Kentucky University earlier announced it was also moving its season opener from the Saturday of the Kentucky Derby to September 3rd as well.
