A big day on the field over the weekend for a youth baseball team with several younger area players on the roster. The WK Velo 13U teams played a pair of games Saturday, winning both without giving up a single run on the day.
In their opening game against HOJO Elite -Gold 13U, WK Velo 13U cruised to the 9-0 win. Gavin Powell led the offensive effort, going 2-2 with a double and 3 RBIs. Parker Pendley finished the game 2-3 with a pair of RBIs. Cole Glover was 2-3 with a double and an RBI.
On the mound, Aiden Lewis and Austin Spears combined to pitch 3 innings, giving up only two hits. Spears had 4 strikeouts during his 1 2/3-innings of work.
The second game between the two teams saw WK Velo 13U come away with another shutout win, this time by the score of 11-0.
Parker Pendley led the way, going 3-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Carter Sholar was 2-2 with a double and an RBI. Jace Blue ended up 2-3, with three runs scored. Cole Glover finished the game 2-2 with a pair of runs scored.
On the mound, Carter Sholar and Aiden Lewis combined to pitch a hitless 2 1/3 innings in the win.
