The Louisville Lady Sluggers 18U advanced to the championship game of the Tennessee Sparklers and Fireworks Tournament in Chattanooga over the weekend.
The Lady Sluggers fell to the Atlanta Vipers 2-0 in Sunday’s championship game, snapping a four-game winning streak.
Christian County’s Pickle Winkler had one of the Lady Sluggers’ four hits in the championship game. She finished the weekend batting .364 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
The Lady Sluggers opened pool play by tying the Extreme Elite 3-3. Winkler had a hit and RBI in the game, while her Christian County teammate Reni Shemwell had a hit and RBI. Shemwell batted .400 in the six games for the Lady Sluggers.
Lyon County’s Calista Collins went 1-for-3 with a double and run scored in the Lady Sluggers’ 7-1 win Thursday over the National Gold. Collins finished the weekend with a .273 average and three runs scored.
Collins was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI in the Lady Sluggers’ 10-2 win over the Finese 18U. Winkler added a hit and a run in the win.
On Friday, Collins and Shemwell each had hits to help the Lady Sluggers beat Morris County Gold 7-2.
