After winning their pool in the 16U Pastime National Championships in Louisville, the Kentucky Prospects 16U reached the round of 16, before dropping a tough one-run decision to end their appearance in the event Saturday evening.
In their first game of bracket play Saturday afternoon, the Prospects rolled to a four inning 13-3 win over Mid Ohio Bullets 16U.
Lyon County’s Gunnar Bingham continued his hot summer going 2-3, with a double, a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored. Fellow Lyon Brody Williams finished 1-3, with a home run, an RBI, and a run scored. Caldwell County’s Logan Smiley, who had a solid week in Louisville, went 1-3, with 2 RBIs, and a run scored.
Lyon County’s Jackson Shoulders pitched all four innings of the game, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, striking out three and walking one.
That win moved the Prospects into a game against 5 Star National MidSouth 16U. The Prospects built a 6-0 lead, but saw 5 Star rally with a nine run 4th inning and then hold on to take a 9-8 win.
Logan Smiley finished 2-2, with a double, 3 RBIs, and a run scored. Jackson Shoulders finished 1-3 with an RBI. Gunnar Bingham was 1-4 with a run scored, while Brody Williams ended up 1-4 on the evening.
Hopkinsville’s Jacob Dilday got the start, going 3 2/3 innings. He was charged with 7 runs on four hits, striking out five, while walking two.
