A pair of pitchers who hurl for high schools in the Eighth District picked up wins on the mound for the Clarksville Orioles 17U travel baseball team over the weekend.
Luke Welch, who will be a senior at University Heights Academy in the fall, got the win for the Orioles in their 5-2 win over the Next Level Elite 17U team. Welch struck out three in 5.2 innings of work, scattering 11 hits and walking just two.
Zach Caudill, who will be a senior at Hopkinsville High School in the fall, got the win for the Clarksville squad who beat the Batters Box Upperclass 18U team 6-5. Caudill allowed just two hits in 5.1 innings of work. He struck out six and allowed just one earned run.
