The status of football and girls soccer for the 2020 season in Tennessee continues to be up in the air. According to a report in the Tennessean, after expecting to vote on a contingency plan for the two sports during a Board of Control meeting Wednesday, the TSSAA suddenly announced the voted would not take place.
According to reports, the decision to delay the vote was made based on discussions the association was having with the Governor’s office. A new date for a decision on a plan has not been made public.
Multiple plans had been discussed and were on the table. Included in those were shortening the regular season, fewer teams in the playoffs, normal regular seasons with no playoffs, and teams not making the playoffs being able to play additional games at the end of the regular season.
Officials with the TSSAA say they remain in contact with the Governor’s office going forward.
