Macey Brown used a strong first round to claim second place at the Kentucky Junior PGA’s Marshall Strong Classic at the Calvert City Country Club.
The Apollo junior, who finished as the Region 2 runner-up last year, shot a 3-over 75 in Saturday’s first-round that included consecutive birdies on the front nine.
Brown followed up Sunday with an 8-over 80 to finish four shots behind the winner, Trinity Beth of Marshall County.
Brown improved 21 shots over her 13th place finish in the event last year and says her second-place finish Sunday comes at a good time.
