Emma Talley made history on Saturday by becoming the first female to compete in the Irvin Cobb Championships in Paducah.

Talley was at 1-under-par in the opening round before back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 17 and 18 pushed her to a 1-over 72 through 18 holes.

Fred Meyer leads the professional division of the 84th Irvin Cobb Championships after carding a 65 on Saturday. Patrick Newcomb and Stephen Stallins are each one shot back.

Talley will have to make up some ground Sunday to try to get back in contention.

She will tee off at 10:28 Sunday morning at Paxton Park Golf Course.

Talley’s playing partners for the final round will be Rick Cochran III and Gabe Wheeler.
