Kaitlyn Zieba turned around a disappointing first round to shoot a 6-over 78 Friday and finished tied for 29th at the Kentucky Junior PGA Girls’ Amateur held at Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown.
Zieba, a junior at Madisonville High, shot par on six of her first nine holes and birdied No. 12 to finish with a 38 on the back nine. With a first-round 86, Zieba finished at 20-over.
Lexington’s Delia Gibbs, who will attend Belmont University this fall, edged Marshall County junior Savannah Howell by one shot to win the title. Gibbs shot an even-par 72 in the final round and finished the two-day event at 2-over.
