A former Caldwell County football standout is transferring.
Mitchell Harralson, who had been a longsnapper at Western Kentucky University, announced on social media on Sunday that he is leaving that school for Murray State University.
“I’m very thankful to have been given the opportunity to compete at Western Kentucky University over the past year,” Harralson wrote. “I would like to thank the strength staff for molding me into a better college athlete and my teammates for making me feel at home. I will use the experiences and wisdom that I gained at WKU to help me in my future endeavors.
“However, after many long nights of prayer and reflection, it became clear that I was a better fit elsewhere. With that being said, I will be transferring to Murray State University to finish out both my academic and athletic careers.”
With the Racers, Harralson will play for new head coach Dean Hood. Hood is beginning his first season at the helm of the Murray State football program.
Hood coached defensive backs at the University of Kentucky the past two years.
“Thank you to Coach Hood for the opportunity of a lifetime!” Harralson added. “I am beyond excited for this new journey in my football career and I am ready to get to work!”
