A solid effort over the weekend for the Fredonia Elite basketball team. The team took home 3rd place in their division at the MAYB event at the Cape Girardeau SportsPlex.
Fredonia Elite began their day Saturday with a 64-43 win over Team Primetime. Elite got a big effort from Crittenden County’s Preston Morgeson, who led the way with 21 points, including 5 made 3-pointers. Graves County’s Mason Grant and John Ben Brown added 12 points each in the win.
Later Saturday, Fredonia Elite dropped a tough 49-45 decision to HD Elite to go to 1-1 in the event. Crittenden County’s Preston Turley led the way with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Graves County’s Caleb Oliver chipped in with 13 points.
In their final game of the day Saturday, Fredonia Elite rebounded with a 59-36 win over West Ten Kings. Another big game for Preston Turley with 19 points. Mason Grant and John Ben Brown also reached double figures with 10 points each.
Sunday, Fredonia Elite ran into a 3:16 Arkansas team featuring one of the top prospects in that state in the Class of 2023. Elite fell behind big early, rallied, but ended up falling 78-67. Caleb Oliver led the offense with 20 points in the contest. Crittenden County’s Gabe Mott added 10 points in the loss.
Fredonia Elite ended their stay in Cape Girardeau with a 57-46 win over NEA Bulldogs in the game that clinched 3rd place. Gabe Mott finished as top scorer with 16 points. Preston Turley added 12.
Fredonia Elite will return to action August 1st.
