Fans of fall high school sports in Kentucky now have July 28th circled on their calendar. As had been expected since their last meeting, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control has scheduled a special called meeting for Tuesday morning.
At their meeting earlier this month, the Board of Control extended the current sports guidelines in the state through August 2nd. Those guidelines limit activity, and prohibit competition, for all sports, except golf, through that date. As of this time, the high school golf season is slated to start late next week.
It is expected at the meeting that the Board of Control will make some significant decisions as it pertains to moving forward with high school sports in the state.
It is likely that some seasons will see a delay in the original start dates. Soccer had been set to start the week of August 10; volleyball, cross country & football the week of August 17.
The meeting is set for 10am Tuesday, at the KHSAA offices in Lexington.
