Another college conference has announced its intentions in moving forwards with fall sports. The Missouri Valley Conference Presidents Council announced Monday that it will delay the start of competition in fall sports until Friday, September 18. The conference also announced that the league will conduct conference-only competition in men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball.

The MVC’s decision does not include the schools in the conference that compete in football in leagues with separate governing bodies, members of the Pioneer Football League and the Missouri Valley Football Conference. The announcement also does not include non-MVC sponsored sports in which MVC schools compete.

The MVC announced that fall competitive schedules for men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, and women’s tennis will also be delayed until September 18, as will the non-championship fall seasons for baseball and softball.

The start of fall practice for all conference sports will not start before August 17. Officials added that beginning with September 18, student-athletes in those sports may compete against non-conference competition, provided that non-MVC institutions meet the necessary safety specifications as outlined in the NCAA’s Resocialization of College Sports Guidelines.

The Missouri Valley also went on to point out that, as of this time, schedules for winter and spring sports are not impacted, and that MVC championship models for fall sports as previously announced are also not impacted.
