While the rest of the state is moving forward with the planned start of fall sports, two Alabama school districts have decided not to play for at least the first nine weeks of the new school year. According to a report on AL.com, officials in Greene County and Sumter County announced Monday that fall sports, which include football, volleyball and cross country would be canceled for the first nine weeks of the season.
Monday was the first day of fall camp for football teams across the state of Alabama.
It was just last week that the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Central Board approved returning to sports on schedule. However, school systems were given the ultimate decision as to whether or not they would return to action.
