Former Hoptown & Todd County Hoops Coach Dies

Long-time basketball coach Chuck Hayslip has died according to a social media announcement made by his son Tuesday.

Hayslip was a native of Mason County and was the head basketball coach at Todd County Central from 1972-74, winning 35 games and twice finishing as runner-up to Christian County.

After a coaching stop in Ohio County, Hayslip took over the coaching duties at Hopkinsville High in 1977.  In six seasons as head coach, the Tigers were 91-68 and finished as district runner-up to Christian County in 1977 and 1978.

Hayslip later served as head coach at South Hopkins from 1986-90, winning 50 games and finishing as district runner-up to Madisonville in 1989 and 1990.
