The KHSAA has approved the practice and competition schedule for the 2020 cross country season. Here is some important information to know.
Calendar
July 29- August 23 – Cross Country conditioning under the current rules apply, to include the six hours per week, per athlete guideline.
August 24 – Practice begins with an increase to 7.5 hours per athlete per week.
Sept. 7 – First meet of the season
Team
Roster limit at 10 runners in uniform at the start
Schedule
Teams can have a maximum of nine meets prior to the postseason.
Schools will only be allowed to play schools located in Kentucky or located in a county that directly borders Kentucky.
There is no change in the start date for the postseason. The region meet will be run Oct. 24 with the state meet the weekend of Oct. 31.
The KHSAA Board of Control is scheduled to meet again Aug. 20 to look at the state’s coronavirus case data and likely take action on whether to continue the cross country season as planned.
Some on-site logistics [crowd size, payment method, testing protocol, etc.] will likely be left up to each school district with those plans to be announced later.
