With the decision Tuesday by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association to move forward with a delayed schedule of high school sports, and to not allow for big events with more than 8 teams in one location, there are questions as to what happens to three of the earliest statewide championship events. The All A Classic is scheduled to have a trio of fall championships, and with the revisions made by the KHSAA, those events now are set to fall very very early in the 2020 season.
According to the latest from the All A Classic, their schedule for the fall championship events looks like this:
Volleyball – September 18 & 19
Golf – September 12
Soccer – September 25-26
Golf would, at first glance, appear to be the most likely of the events to still take place.
Soccer would be fairly early in the season, but still at least more than two weeks in. As for the team limits discussed Tuesday by the KHSAA, the All A Classic soccer tournament played sectional rounds following the regionals, leaving 8 teams to make the trip to Frankfort.
Volleyball, of the three, may face the most questions. The All A state tournament, as scheduled, would be played in just the second week of the season. Additionally, the tournament traditionally has had 16 teams travel to Richmond, which potentially brings into play the 8 team limit for events.
