The Kentucky 2A Championships, which was adding soccer and volleyball to its competition tree this fall, announced Thursday they will postpone their fall sports tourneys to 2021.
A post on social media Thursday morning said “our initial plan was, to begin with basketball, then phase into baseball and softball, and finally to soccer and volleyball. With the cancellation of the spring season, and the delayed started to fall, our board decided in the best interest of athletes and fans to begin with baseball and softball this spring after the basketball championships. Then begin soccer and volleyball in the fall of 2021.”
The Kentucky Class 2A Championships were created for the schools considered to be “tweeners” in the state’s unclassed high school sports system. Schools that are too large to compete in the All-A Classic but have under 1,000 students are eligible to compete in the Class 2A Championships, which began with basketball in the 2018-19 season.
Second Region schools that play in the Class 2A Championships are Trigg County, Union County, Webster County, and Hopkins County Central.
