Logan County Tabs Thompson as New Boys Hoops Coach

Logan County has turned to a former crosstown athletic director to take over its boys basketball program. Officials announced Monday afternoon that Nathan Thompson will become the Cougars next boys’ head coach.

Thompson was Russellville High School Boys Basketball Assistant Coach for 7 years, Russellville Head Golf Coach 3 years, and Russellville Athletic Director for 2 years. Nathan has been Coach and General Manager for the Bowling Green Hornets Minor League Basketball Team who were the 2015 Central Basketball Association Champions. He coached the CBA Global Team in Canada in 2014, and Brazil in 2015.

Thompson, is a 2001 graduate of Russellville High School. Thompson also has worked in the banking business in the Logan County area.

Thompson told YSE “I’m thrilled to be a part of the Logan County Cougar Program. I am ready to hit the ground running on the court, while providing individualized skill and player development. I look forward to building relationships with players and parents because I believe our success starts there.”

Thompson replaces John Tinsely Sr., who stepped down following the 2019-2020 season.

Nathan, his wife, Laura, and their two children reside in Olmstead.
