Caldwell County freshman Austin Crick was medalist for the second straight day, but the Tiger golfers were edged by Dawson Springs in a two-team match Wednesday morning at Princeton Golf Club.

Crick birdied No. 14 and finished at 4-over-par 40 in the nine-hole match. He also shot a 40 on Tuesday but Caldwell was edged by Hopkins County Central at Madisonville Country Club.

Dawson Springs junior Addison Whalen had a 43 to pace the Panthers, who totaled a 189 team score.

Caldwell had a team score of 191.

It was the first high school match played on the Princeton course since the fall of 2016. Because of low numbers in the program and poor green conditions, Caldwell did not host any matches the past three seasons. However, new greens have since been installed at Princeton Golf Club and Caldwell’s boys are fielding a full team this season.

Tiger senior Tate VanHooser played his first match as a member of the Caldwell squad, but played Wednesday’s match as an individual and did not count toward the team total. He was second overall, finishing at 41 after recording pars on his first four holes.

Collin Whittington shot a 47 for Caldwell while Ryan Hammett had a 51, Cannon Littlejohn 53 and Camden McGregor 54.

For the Panthers, Whalen was third individually with his 43.

Gage Smiley and Grayson Brewer each had a 47 for Dawson Springs while Carlton McCuiston shot a 52 and Kolby Crook 54.

The teams played the “road” side at PGC, holes 1 and 11-18.

Both the Tigers and the Panthers will play Saturday morning in the 2nd Region All A Classic at Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club.
