Jiles Wyatt had a tough time overcoming a heavy rainstorm that began his All-A Classic Region Tournament round Saturday and finished as runner-up, one shot off the lead.
Wyatt was a couple of holes into his round when heavy rains delayed the tourney for nearly an hour at the Hopkinsville Country Club. Wyatt shot a 42 on the front nine and came in with a 40. His round of 82 was one shot behind the winner, Gage Smiley of Dawson Springs.
Wyatt still qualifies for next month’s All-A Classic State Golf Tournament at Gibson Bay Golf Course in Richmond.
Aaron Onate, playing in his first All-A region tourney, shot a 116 and finished in 19th place for the Blazers, who did not have enough golfers to qualify for a team score.
