A former Christian County Colonel basketball player has been promoted on the staff of an SEC basketball program. The University of Alabama announced Friday that Donovan Kates has been elevated to Video Coordinator for the Crimson Tide.
Kates had been serving as a Graduate Assistant at Alabama since fall of 2018. Prior to his arrival at Alabama, Kates was the head coach for Combine Academy.
Kates, who played college basketball at Manhattan, was a four year starter at Christian County High School, and helped lead the Colonels to the 2011 state title. He garnered 2nd Team All State honors as a senior after averaging 20 points and seven rebounds per game.
